Salli Ergonomic Chair Pressure Distribution for Various Chair Types

Complaints related to supportive and locomotive body areas are a significant cause of absenteeism. Neck and back pain have particularly increased to a noticeable level when it comes to preventing the affected from working. In the future, more attention should be given to the impact of ergonomic sitting on individuals' overall health levels. Traditional sitting positions result in strong pressure on thighs, seat, and groin, which weakens circulation in soft tissue and bones. Pressure that mainly rests on the groin area also clamps the internal pudendal arteries, responsible for blood flow to erectile tissue, affecting both normal blood flow and erections. For male cyclists, blood circulation is impaired due to a seat that puts pressure on the pudendal arteries, and long-term pressure on the arteries leads to thickening of the arterial walls and subsequent erection problems (V. Huang, R. Munarriz & I. Goldstein, 2005). The aim of this study was to investigate the different pressure levels caused by 8 different chairs and the distribution of this pressure between thighs, seat, and genitals.
